One of our favorites is Minnesota’s oldest movie theater. The moment you step inside, you’ll be filled with nostalgia for a century ago.

The Heights Theater is a Minnesota treasure. You'll find it at 3951 Central Ave. NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421.

The theater has been around since 1926, originally running vaudeville acts and movies. It's considered the longest operating showhouse in Minnesota!

Later, the theater survived three fires, a tornado, and even a bombing. It deteriorated for a while, but it was eventually restored in the 1990s.

This little one-screen theater is a wonderful place to go for a fun date night. Make a night of it by stopping at the DQ next-door before or after your show.

Inside, historic details are everywhere. From the carpeting to the wall fixtures, you'll be taken to another time.

There's even an old projector on display in the lobby.

In the theater itself, antique chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

The seating area, though newly renovated, is much like it was way back in the 1920s. You'll never get tired of checking out all the details before your show.

Below the stage, there's even an old Wurlitzer organ.

Before some films, an organist plays before the show! This little detail makes the experience feel that much more special.

The Heights Theater plays both new movies and old classics. They often have events to match a theme or season.
