There’s Only One Remaining Train Station Like This In All Of Minnesota And It’s Magnificent
Here in Minnesota, we have more than a few great train-themed attractions that are delightful for people of all ages. From restaurants to museums to train car hotels, there’s a locomotive-themed spot somewhere in Minnesota that is likely to entice you. One of the most interesting is a train station in Duluth. There’s not another one like it in Minnesota, and visiting is simply magical. Take a look:
The Duluth Depot is a historic Duluth landmark that everyone should visit at least once. It's located at 506 W Michigan St, Duluth, MN 55802.
This old train station was built in 1892. It quickly became a hub of transport, serving half a dozen different rail lines. The depot could hold 5,000 passengers!
The Depot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. In the years since, as train travel became less commonplace, the depot became less important as a transportation hub.
You can still catch a train from the Duluth Depot! The North Shore Scenic Railroads offers several North Shore excursions that depart from the depot, too. The trips give riders an idea of how people traveled way back at the turn of the century.
The Duluth Depot is also a center for arts and culture. It houses several organizations, including the Duluth Art Institute. Stop in to see the works of local artists
