You may be familiar with certain other venues that boast frozen castles in the Bold North, but did you know that, come wintertime, there’s a Delano winery that transforms into an ice palace in Minnesota? Check out The Ice Palace at Fountain Hill Winery – it’s a true winter wonderland and one of the best things to do in Minnesota in winter. Come see for yourself!.
Over a year ago, the Ice Palace came to Fountain Hill Winery, and it has become one of the best things to do in Minnesota in the winter.
It was constructed over several weeks by a family team who specializes in building frozen wonderlands such as this one.
Once the palace is complete - and the weather cooperates - it’s opened to the public.
Even so, the building process continues as long as the palace is open.
Once open, the palace is a frozen wonderland that draws people from all over Minnesota.
Kids of all ages love to explore its turrets and parapets and tunnels.
Costumed winter characters are always on hand to entertain and amuse.
There’s regular entertainment, such as fire shows, throughout the season.
You’ll find plenty of refreshments at the event, as well. Craft pizza is a crowd favorite.
As is wine, of course - the palace is at a winery, after all.
You can also satisfy your sweet tooth with donuts or other tasty treats.
And if all the ice has you feeling chilly, there are plenty of places where you can warm up between rounds of exploration.
Visit The Ice Palace at Fountain Hill Winery Facebook page for the most up-to-date details, including hours, events, and available concessions. The Ice Palace is an ongoing event during the winter, but there are also many annual festivals occurring during winter across the Land of 10,000 Lakes that are worth checking out.
