The Caribou Rock Trail is the perfect mixture of tough and fun. It’ll leave you panting, but the views will be worth it. Here’s what you need to know.
Caribou Rock Trail is a challenging but satisfying hike that will take you though the gorgeous woodland of Superior National Forest.
Located near East Cook, this trail measures about eight and a half miles long and is rated as difficult.
You should be prepared for some rocky terrain and sharp gains in elevation. You’ll climb about 1,473 feet through the woods in total.
Along the way, you’ll be treated to views of gurgling brooks and fascinating plant life. Caribou Rock Trail itself is actually only about 0.75 miles long, but we fully recommend merging onto Border Route Trail where the two paths connect.
The woods are dense with lush pines and the smell of the air is truly intoxicating.
As you start to emerge from the woods, you’ll be greeted by spectacular views of the lake below. Feel free to linger, take a few photos, and give your legs a break.
This hike is definitely not for beginners, but it’s the perfect way to get some fresh air and exercise at the same time.
