If you’ve visited Michigan’s beloved Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park during the warm season, you know that it offers an endless array of activities and attractions for the entire family to enjoy. When temperatures drop, you might not consider heading to a destination with the word "garden" in its name, but trust us when we say that you’ll have a blast at Meijer Gardens during the winter months.
Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park can be found at 1000 E Beltline Ave NE in Grand Rapids.
This one-of-a-kind museum, botanical garden, and event venue boasts 158 acres of beauty that impresses visitors of all ages and backgrounds. There’s so much to appreciate here.
When the weather is warm, many guests flock to the outdoor sculpture park to see vibrant blooms or attend concerts and other on-site events. There’s even a butterfly garden.
As soon as winter rolls around, the vibe at Meijer Gardens shifts slightly -- but don’t let this stop you from dropping by. There’s still so much to explore during the chillier season.
Through early January, guests can explore the annual Metro Health Christmas and Holiday Traditions exhibit, which features decorated trees from across the world and endless lights.
If that weren’t enough, the sculpture park is perfect for a bundled-up stroll. In fact, many of the park’s most impressive structures are especially pretty when coated with a layer of snow.
Younger visitors can partake in guided Wintertime Walks, which allow for outdoor exploration and education. There’s even a fun-filled Winter Family Day scheduled for mid-February.
Whether you’re enjoying the latest art exhibit, gazing at holiday decor, meandering through a greenhouse, or appreciating towering sculptures, a winter visit to Meijer Gardens will delight.
