Unless you’ve been living under a rock (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course), you’re probably aware that Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon – or UAPs, for short – are in the news a LOT lately. What’s a UAP? Oh, nothing – just the modern, more seriously taken term to describe literal UFOs or unidentified things seen in our skies. Personally, I think it’s an amazing revelation and can’t wait to learn more, but I digress. Three decades ago, Michigan had its very own fascinating, unexplained UAP sighting occur that, to this day, still baffles the folks who witnessed it – including military personnel, meteorologists, and other highly credible witnesses. This incredible but credible UFO sighting in Michigan is, to this day, wonderfully strange and highly intriguing.

Holland, Michigan, is a lakeside town with a population of just over 34,000.

It's a photogenic little town with plenty to see and do, but in 1994, it made headlines for another reason: it was the site of one of the single most credible UFO sightings in U.S. history.
The skies over Holland are typically beautifully blue, with occasional storms and/or cloud cover.

On the night of March 8th, 1994, however, the skies contained something much different than just stars.
Dozens of calls began pouring in to 911 with panicked, confused and/or fascinated residents looking upward and wondering: what IS that thing?

Eyewitness accounts vary just slightly; some folks saw four lights, some saw three. Some saw them in a line, some saw them in a triangle formation. Everyone said, however, that they were red, green, and white, and very, very strange.

Police were asked to check it out, and sure enough, there they were, hovering in the sky over the lake: the lights.

Dispatch, at the request of one officer, called the National Weather Service to inquire about radar. Sure enough, right there on analog, there were three to four objects moving at about 100 miles per hour right over Holland.
Its behavior over Lake Michigan was erratic and strange, with it making abrupt, high-speed maneuvers that aircraft we know of are not able to make.

For more than two hours, the National Weather Service (as well as law enforcement) watched the object(s) behave strangely on radar, traveling at speeds quite literally not possible for any known, man-made craft.
To this day, witnesses have no idea what they saw... but some are certain it was not of this world.
