What are some fun things to do in Holland, Michigan?

While Veldheer’s is probably the most well-known attraction in Holland, this charming little town is full of wonderful things to see and do! If you’ve ever spent time in this community, you know that it’s rich with local pride. From its annual Tulip Time celebration to its long-standing eateries, there’s so much to love. At the heart of Holland is its bustling downtown area, most of which is sprawled out along 8th Street. The city actually pays to keep this street heated year-round, so visitors never have to worry about slipping while enjoying Holland’s bustling downtown. While you’re exploring the downtown, be sure to stop by Butch’s for a beer and burger; this Holland gem is one of the best pubs in the state!

How long has Veldheer Tulip Gardens in Michigan been around?

Vern Veldheer started the eponymous flower farm in 1950, with just 100 red tulips and 300 white tulips. Today, Veldheer’s plants over 5 million tulips for visitors to enjoy, and is the only tulip farm perennial garden in Holland. Visitors can even get tips and pointers from the crew on how to plant these beautiful flowers in their own gardens!

What are the best things to do in spring in Michigan?

Ah, spring. There’s nothing quite like springtime in the Great Lakes State. Michigan is beautiful throughout the year, but its vibrancy truly shines when warmer weather rolls around and the flowers begin to bloom. When you’re ready to experience the colorful splendor of Michigan, look no further than these sublime springtime attractions. In addition to the aforementioned tulip field in Michigan, Fernwood Botanical Gardens, a lush botanical garden in Niles, comes to life each spring with greenery and countless flowers. The park also features a Japanese garden, fern garden, and numerous natural art exhibits. And for an utterly delightful springtime experience in Michigan, Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids is positively perfect! Each spring, hundreds of tropical butterflies make their home in at this garden’s on-site greenhouse. It’s breathtaking.
