This Little-Known Lake Is Perfect For Waterskiing, Sailing, And Fishing In Michigan

It’s hard to beat any of the lakes in Michigan, whether that be the Great Lakes or some of the smaller inland lakes. Some are great for relaxation, while others are great for watersports. There are a few that cater to almost every liking.
You likely won’t find too many people crowding this little-known lake in Michigan that you all also voted as one of the Prettiest Lakes In Michigan. Sage Lake in Lupton, Michigan is one of the best lakes for waterskiing, sailing, and fishing if you’re not too busy relaxing.
Sage Lake is located in Lupton, Michigan on the east side of Ogemaw County. That’s in the northeast part of the state and pretty far removed from any of Michigan’s big cities.
It will be tough to find many people who haven’t already heard of Sage Lake flocking to it. Many people who vacation there say it doesn’t get too crowded, even on summer weekends.
One of my favorite things to do on the water, especially when relaxing, is cruising around the shoreline to look at the beautiful homes. Families have owned property on this lake for decades, growing more and more nostalgic as the years fly by.
While some of the homes have been handed down by up to four generations, others are available for short-term rental.

Sage Lake proudly proclaims itself an “All Sports Lake”. This means you can sail or drive any type of boat and you can do basically any watersport on the lake.
This makes Sage Lake a great place to pull tubers, water skiers, and wakeboarders. This lake also caters to nonmotorized water sports, such as kayaking, sailing, and paddle boarding.
This is just one of the several events throughout the Fourth of July weekend, which also includes fireworks and a boat parade.
There are three islands around Sage Lake that raise curiosity from visitors. According to the Sage Lake Association’s website, one of these islands is privately owned, one is home to private residences, and one is available for short-term rental.
Guests order their food at the restaurant and head outside to one of their several seating options. Those with boats don’t even need to leave the dock. You can order the food on the water and pick it up dockside.
This lake is a magical place to get away to during the summer time and you won’t need to share it with many other vacationers. Even though it’s not extremely well known now, the secret is about to get out.
If you like having fun on the water, it’s time to start planning your next summer getaway. As I mentioned, there is a mix of short-term vacation rentals on Sage Lake and many of them are found on Airbnb. Don’t forget to check some of those listings before planning your trip.
