Warm weather brings about plenty of fun here in the Motor City area, whether you’re planning a solo outing or searching for activities to appreciate with the entire family in tow. One of the most popular activities during the summer months is fruit-picking, and Metro Detroit is home to some of the most charming farms imaginable. Round up a few loved ones and head out to snag some sweetness at these six U-Pick spots.

Nothing says summertime like freshly picked blueberries, and Blueville Acres will bring all of your sweetest dreams to life over the coming months. Situated in Belleville, this welcoming destination allows visitors to enjoy picking its organic blueberries beginning every July. Mark your calendar, because you’ll surely want to visit when the berries are at their best.
2. Rowe’s Produce Farm (10570 Martz Rd, Ypsilanti)

Venture to Ypsilanti for a day of fun at Rowe’s Produce Farm, where you’ll find a long-standing operation (more than 40 years, to be exact) that prides itself on offering U-Pick strawberries every summer. Picking typically begins in June and extends for approximately a month, depending on conditions. You’ll pay for your strawberries based on weight and containers are provided right on-site. Does it get much better?
3. Spicer Orchards (10411 Clyde Rd, Fenton)

While you might think that orchard visits are solely reserved for the fall months, think again. Spicer Orchards is an unbeatable Michigan destination for apple picking every autumn, but it’s also worth visiting for U-Pick cherries, strawberries, and red raspberries throughout the summer. You’ll be happily overwhelmed by the vibrant atmosphere and delicious finds that await here.
4. Berry Hill Farm (12835 N Territorial Rd, Dexter)

You’ll hear a lot about strawberry-picking throughout the area, but Berry Hill Farm in Dexter has a different specialty: raspberries. July kicks off the black raspberry U-Pick season, with red raspberries typically reaching their peak ripeness in August and onward. Whether you’re planning for a particular baked good or simply snagging some fresh fruit for the family to enjoy, you’ll love this locale.
5. Wasem Fruit Farm (6580 Judd Rd, Milan)

This is another destination within driving distance of Detroit that typically receives attention in the fall when its apples are ripe, but it’s just as wonderful in the summertime. If you’re a fan of cherries or cherry-based desserts, you’ll want to stop by around the 4th of July to pick your own tart cherries from Wasem. You can also branch out and pick blackcurrants or redcurrants - an underrated fruit with loads of possibilities.
6. Slow Farm (4700 Whitmore Lake Rd, Ann Arbor)

This organic farm in Ann Arbor prides itself on offering incomparably fresh produce. When visitors drop by, they can pick their own strawberries from a four-acre wonderland that promises to provide sweetness and lasting memories with loved ones. You’ll need to reserve a time slot for U-Pick in advance by checking out the Slow Farm website
