Stay In A Charming Michigan Cottage With Its Own Private 130-Foot Waterfall
A getaway to Tioga Falls Cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan should be at the top of your bucket list. This secluded Michigan cabin features its own waterfall, and is absolutely sublime. But before you jump to make reservations, note that the cabin is entirely off-the-grid and technology-free — perfect for the nature-loving person who does not mind waking up to the sound of soothing waterfalls in a custom-crafted log cabin deep in the woods.
Reaching Tioga Falls Cabin is a bit of a trek; you'll find is down a two-track trail from the main road. The drive is best done in a truck, but with careful driving, a regular car will do just fine.
The cabin sits on a secluded, 80-acre property that has the sole, private access to Tioga Falls. And since it is uniquely surrounded by the Tioga and Sturgeon Rivers, there is plenty of wading, swimming, canoeing, and fishing opportunities for brook and brown trout.
You will find the falls right outside the screened porch. Accessing them requires a bit of an effort; a challenge you will not mind repeating once you are under the glorious waterfall. Campfires are allowed, but only in the fire ring situated away from the cabin.
Tioga Falls Cabin has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to six adults. Bedding items are provided, but if you are particular about thread count, bring your own. For warmth, there is a wood-burning stove to keep you comfortable and toasty during your stay.
The lone bathroom is of a comfortable size, offering basic amenities and supplies. Keep in mind that the nearest store is 30 minutes away, so pack enough personal care products. Try to also limit the use of blow dryers to conserve energy as the cabin is solar powered.
