Whenever I travel, I love to stay overnight in a unique place, especially one with a bit of history. Massachusetts is full of hotels and rentals that had former lives as police stations, jails, and even ski lodges. Brooksong, an Airbnb rental in Dalton, Massachusetts also has an interesting history.
Brooksong is a gorgeous updated rental located on five acres of land in the Berkshire region of the state. It is surrounded by scenic woods and farmland. Part of the property was once a schoolhouse that was built in 1866.
The rental is close to lakes, museums, ski areas, and the Tanglewood Music Center.
Brooksong is the perfect place to get away with family or a group of friends. The house has five bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 people. There are also 2.5 bathrooms.
This special property is the perfect balance of both old and new. There are modern features, including a smart TV and a jetted shower, mixed with historic decor, like this original schoolhouse chalkboard.
The house is spacious, yet warm and cozy. There are several places to hang out and relax, as well as a fun game room with a pool table and foosball table.
Outside, there is a fire pit area and a children’s play structure.
One of my favorite things about this property is its antique bar, which dates back to the 1920s. It is the perfect place to gather for an after-dinner cocktail.
The modern kitchen comes fully stocked with all the appliances and cookware you will need to make a great meal. There is also an outdoor BBQ available to use. Dinner can be enjoyed in the cozy rustic dining area.
Guests are free to explore the outside property, which includes trails and a babbling brook. Horses and pigs on the neighboring farmland can also be viewed from Brooksong.
If you have stayed at this amazing property, please tell us all about your experience! Brooksong can be booked year-round through Airbnb. The Rustic Modern Retreat is another great Airbnb rental available in nearby West Stockbridge.
