Discover What Life Was Like In The 17th Century At Pioneer Village, A Living History Museum In Massachusetts
Have you ever been curious to learn what life was like back in the 17th century? Located in Salem, Pioneer Village is a replica of an early colonial village and the first living history museum in the country. A visit here is a step back in time as you learn about what life was like almost 400 years ago in Massachusetts.
Pioneer Village shows what life was like for colonists in the early 17th century. It is a replica village built in 1930 to commemorate 300 years since Massachusetts Bay Colony was first settled by Puritans from England.
Across the village, visitors will see several examples of colonial architecture including cottages with thatched roofs, wigwams, dugouts, a governor's house, a blacksmith shop, gardens, and more.
Families will love exploring the village and speaking to and seeing presentations given by the friendly, knowledgeable staff who are dressed in period costumes. It is quite a fun and educational experience!
Pioneer Village is located about 10 minutes from downtown Salem. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. with the last entry at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are just $5 per person and can be purchased at the gate.
