Everyone knows that you can find good pizza just about anywhere you go. Even I can heat up a decent frozen pie. But finding truly great pizza is another story. Bay Staters are lucky to have delicious places like Galleria Umberto’s Rosticceria and Ernesto's Pizza in Boston's North End, as well as several other wonderful pizza spots outside the city. Well, now there is a new Massachusetts pizza joint that just might rival the competition. Sally's Apizza in Woburn is definitely worth a visit!
Sally’s Apizza first opened in New Haven, Connecticut in 1938 and has been a local favorite ever since. They have locations in Stamford and Fairfield and have several new restaurants opening soon.
Sally’s specializes in New Haven-style pizza comprised of their special tangy tomato sauce and a thin, crispy crust with a slight char. The restaurant still uses many original recipes created by its founder, Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio.
All of the pizzas are made by hand and cooked in custom-designed ovens. You can savor them in the restaurant or enjoy them at home via pick-up or delivery.
Try one of the iconic New Haven-style pizzas or order a specialty pie, such as potato and rosemary or original clam. Sally’s also has seasonal pizza specials.
And that’s not all! The Woburn menu also includes starters, fresh salads, pasta dishes, and coal-fired sandwiches.
Don't forget to check out the delicious desserts, including tiramisu, olive oil cake, and cannoli pie. The restaurant also has a full bar featuring an extensive list of wines, beers, and cocktails.
And don’t worry if Woburn is too far to drive. Sally’s Apizza is opening a second Massachusetts location in 2024! The restaurant will be joining the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and the Museum of Ice Cream in Boston’s up-and-coming Seaport District.
Have you tried Sally’s Apizza yet? How did it compare to other Massachusetts pizza joints? More information can be found on the Sally’s Apizza website and Sally’s Apizza Facebook page.
