The village of Shelburne Falls is one of the most naturally beautiful communities in Massachusetts.
Over 50 of these strange holes, ranging in size from six inches to 39 feet in diameter, can be found bored into the granite. The largest natural pothole on Earth is actually right here in Shelburne Falls.
The holes are the product of millions of years of erosion by the swirling waters. Watching the whirling waters eddy in the potholes is truly a beautiful sight.
Of course, there are so many towns in Massachusetts that could easily rank as the loveliest around. What’s your vote for the most naturally beautiful town in the state?
