These Awesome Cabins In Massachusetts Will Give You An Unforgettable Stay
Whether you’re looking for Thoreau-esque seclusion (sorry, his pad at Walden isn’t on AirBnb yet) or just a rustic basecamp from which to explore a new part of the state, we’ve got you covered. Check out this awesome collection of Massachusetts cabins and cottages for rent and get your fix of country living without buying the whole farm.
Staying in some of these cabins might seem a little pricey at first glance, but be sure to note how many guests they can accommodate. Paying $200 a night for a private five-person cabin in the mountains breaks down to only $40 per person per night!
1. Retreat in the Woods, Savoy ($200 per night)
Located in a tranquil past of the northern Berkshires, this beautiful two-bedroom cabin features a combined living room/kitchen with lovely cathedral ceilings. The cabin also includes a luxurious bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi. You'll only be a mile away from gorgeous Tannery Falls in the Savoy State Forest, not to mention lots of great hiking trails.
2. Sheffield Chateau, Sheffield
Private and secluded, this home is nestled on five private acres in the woods located conveniently within fifteen minutes to many area attractions. This cabin has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and comfortably accommodates 8 people. Amenities include a home theatre room, pool table, 5-jet jacuzzi, formal dining room, a king-sized Tempurpedic bed, and great cell reception.
3. Cape Cod Quaint Beach Cottage, Sandwich ($120 per night)
Steps away from a private beach and nestled in a community of private beach cottages, this charming seaside retreat is perfect for a summery couple's retreat or a week of surf and sand with a gang of friends (the cottage sleeps four adults).
4. Idyllic Country Retreat, Buckland ($80 per night)
This one-room cottage packs in a lot of charm. It includes an airy sleeping loft, kitchen, and full private bathroom. The cozy cottage features 23 acres of meadows and woods to hike and explore. Be sure to visit nearby Shelburne Falls or Northampton. If you're looking for a zen moment, meditate in their walled garden.
5. 'Silo Studio' Cottage, Tyringham ($225 per night)
So this place is obviously ridiculously cool. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with canopied bed upstairs with views through trees to the lily pond and downstairs looks out on the babbling brook (complete with fairytale stone bridges). There are two acres of private woods to explore, an outdoor fireplace, and a swimming pond about two miles away. So much fairytale packed into one vacation rental.
6. Cozy Retreat in the Berkshires, Richmond ($160 per night)
Only steps away from Richmond Pond, this rustic A-frame abode is centrally located, kid-friendly, and features a cozy wood stove. A great option for larger families (it sleeps 6!) looking for a country getaway but not interested in the price tag that comes with a deluxe honeymoon suite in the mountains.
7. Wings Neck Lighthouse, Pocasset ($500 per night)
So this one might be a stretch in terms of "cabins" but if you're looking for lots of privacy and a huge helping of natural beauty, this historic lighthouse (!) definitely qualifies. Built in 1849, this former US Coast Guard lighthouse offers a 360º view of the Atlantic ocean and sleeps 8 comfortably. While it's only 3 miles from restaurants and convenience stores, this place feels oceans away from everyday life.
8. Cozy Cabin in the Berkshires, Otis ($130 per night)
A simple and peaceful Scandinavian inspired post and beam cabin minutes from Jacob's Pillow, lakes, ponds, hiking, biking, and skiing. This place sleeps 4 people and comes with free wifi but no TV, which may be a plus depending on what you want out of your vacation).
9. Charming Cabin, Stockbridge ($200 per night)
A classic wooden cabin right on next to the Stockbridge town beach. You get the best of both worlds: a rustic nest of timber and stone only steps away from sun and sand. Featuring a heated porch, gigantic stone fireplace, piano, and room for 6 guests.
10. Fair Rising, South Egremont ($250 per night)
Another great option if you're looking for seclusion over all else. With an enviable mountain vista right outside your window and plenty of lush green space to roam, you'll be sure to leave rested and refreshed. Sleeps 5 with the option of adding additional guests for $35 per person per night.
