1. The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring (Sandy Spring)
Climb, swing, and zip among the treetops at this massive adventure park. If you're looking for an extra magical experience, visit during one of the Glow in the Park events when the course becomes illuminated.

2. Ladew Topiary Gardens (Monkton)
These whimsical gardens are perfectly trimmed into magnificent masterpieces. Meander along the grounds during a beautiful day for a surreal experience worthy of a photo op.

3. Watkins Regional Park (Upper Marlboro)
Follow the yellow brick to to this Wizard of Oz themed playground. This colorful spot is perfect for kids, and kids at heart.

4. Brookside Gardens (Wheaton)
Plants, ponds, and sculptures decorate these gorgeous gardens, making for an enchanting day trip. Springtime is perfect to witness hundreds of colorful tulips sprinkled around.

5. Friendly Farm Restaurant (Upperco)
Chow down on crab cakes and fried chicken and then walk off those calories around this massive farm. Turns out that rural views perfectly complement a delicious dinner.

6. Maryland Heights Overlook (Knoxville)
Although this scenic hike is in Maryland, the view overlooks Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The 2.5 mile trek is moderate and worth the effort.

7. Billy Goat Trail (Potomac)
For a more challenging hike, opt to do section A of Billy Goat Trail. The views of the Potomac River are fantastic and you'll feel quite accomplished after this rocky journey.

8. Elk Neck State Park (North East)
Possibly Maryland's most gorgeous park, Elk Neck State Park boasts a lighthouse, surrounding water views, and plenty of trails to keep you active. Camping is also available at this site.

9. Rawlings Conservatory & Botanical Gardens (Baltimore)
If you're intrigued by exotic plants, then you'll love a visit to this diverse conservatory. Inside are a variety of greenhouse sections full of tropical, desert, and Mediterranean varieties of plants. Be sure to check out the orchid room and stroll the grounds to gaze at the tulips.

10. Plumpton Park Zoo (Rising Sun)
This little known zoo is full of exotic creatures that are well taken care of. You won't forget visiting the charming creatures here, especially the delightful Jimmie the giraffe.

11. Swallow Falls State Park (Oakland)
