Maryland isn’t exactly an enormous state – it would only take a little bit of time to drive across the whole thing, unlike somewhere like, say, Texas, which would take an entire day. Despite the pint-sized nature of the state, it’s filled with incredible history and beautiful small towns. The town of Oxford is particularly special; this itty-bitty town is one of the oldest in the United States, and it’s got a population of fewer than 1,000 residents – but it’s filled to the brim with fun things to do, see, and experience. However, it's been around for longer than that; the earliest record of its existence is its appearance on a map in 1670. History buffs will adore this beautiful little slice of paradise, and even those who don't care much for history will fall in love with it.

It's a quaint, quiet little seaside town, and it attracts boaters and boating families for obvious reasons.
Even if you don't have your own boat, no worries: you can rent one from Dockside Boat Rentals. Spend a day with your family, friends, or anyone you do choose on the sparkling blue water.
Despite being less than one square mile in size, the town has a long list of activities and ideas for killing time, relaxing, or otherwise enjoying the scenery.

Stay a while and sleep at the Robert Morris Inn, which was once the childhood home of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Pay a visit to the Oxford Museum, which proudly boasts more than 300 years of Oxford's history, and then hit the shops downtown.
