You'll find Trolley Line #9 Trail in the Ellicott City area.
To be more specific, this trail begins in the historic Ellicott City area, goes through Oella, and ends up in Catonsville. Of course, you can start at the other end, too.
And all of that exploring is only about 1.5 miles from beginning to end!
This shaded trail was originally part of the Catonsville and Ellicott City Electric Railway Company trolley line. The trolley was active from the 1890s to the mid-1950s.
So when you explore here, you're walking through history.
The flat paths makes this trail great for beginners or for those who simply prefer an easy trek. The newer boardwalk area is an especially delightful place for a stroll.
Along the way, you'll spot rustic water views...
...and if you visit during warmer months, you'll find flowers peppered throughout the area. You may want to bring a camera to capture the beauty.
Who knew that this hidden gem was nestled between these two towns? Bring the family (and you're dog too as long as they're leashed), and enjoy one of the best short and sweet hikes in Maryland.
