Explore A Hidden Cave, Then Refuel At A Restaurant And Taphouse In This Underrated Maryland Town

In the mood for a Maryland adventure? We have a unique day trip for you! The following adventure in Washington County begins with a wondrous cave and ends with a meal at one of the best restaurants in the area. Read on, and have a great time.

There's nothing better than chowing down on a filling meal after going on an outdoorsy adventure, and that's exactly what we have planned today. The best part is that the following two locations are only a 3-minute drive from one another.

The adventure begins at Crystal Grottoes Caverns, located at 19821 Shepherdstown Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.

The caverns here were discovered in 1920 and have been open to tourists for decades. This isn't just any ordinary cave. It has more formations per square foot than any cave known to man.

All ages can enjoy this easy and fascinating tour. Don't forget to bring a jacket -- the caverns are a crisp 54-degrees year-round.

The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children age 11 and under, so plan accordingly.

After a bit of cave exploring, drive just three minutes down the road to fill your belly at Dan's Restaurant & Taphouse (3 N Main Street).

Dan's is the highest rated restaurant in the area, and for good reason. The food options are unique and flavorful, and best of all, filling. Have a seat among the pub-like atmosphere...

...and consider starting with a Bavarian pretzel, served with nacho cheese, or even crab dip if you prefer.
