Located in Sabillasville in Cunningham Falls State Park, this 10.7-mile hike will take you through lush forests and past babbling brooks.
The trail gains about 2,500 feet in elevation, so be prepared for some sore calves the next day. However, the beauty of the hike will definitely distract you from any aches and pains.
The path winds through fern fields, shady groves, and sunny glades. If you hop onto the Catoctin Furnace Trail, you’ll pass the ruins of an old ironworks furnace that is a remnant of the area’s industrial past.
As you approach the overlook, you’ll be greeted by sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
