The snow has fallen, more is on the way and the temps have been consistently low for weeks. That can only mean one thing: winter is here! There's plenty to do outside this time of year, but consider this your valid excuse to stay indoors. We've found a yarn store that doubles as a wine shop and it basically proves what we've all known all along. Maine is actually heaven. Located about an hour from Portland, this store is worth a visit.
There might be no greater joy than sitting near a warm fire creating something from scratch, while also being able to reach for a great glass of wine. If there IS a greater joy, it's being able to get everything you need for that activity in one lovely little shop.
Welcome to Fiber & Vine, located in the Norway Opera House in Norway, Maine.
The shop opened in 2013, offering a carefully hand-chosen selection of fibers that can be used for a wide variety of creations.
Sourced locally and from afar, the choices here are unique and special.
The shop carries fibers that are great for knitting, crochet, spinning, felting and embroidery.
The community in Norway is wonderful and it extends into the shop where you'll find lots of interesting and helpful workshops to take your skillset in new directions.
But, of course, one of our favorite things is the fact that you can pick up a bottle of wine while you're here.
The selection on the shelves is always unique and usually bottles you won't be able to find in the grocery.
You can also pick up handmade gifts.
Make sure you stop by one on of their First Friday events between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to enjoy a free tasting!

Maine has no shortage of unique shops and stores. This converted chicken barn is now an antiques and book shop, which means you'll probably want to make sure you have an entire day to spend inside.
