Freeport, Maine is home to a unique McDonald's located in a historic 1800s mansion.
You'll find fast food chains throughout America. With huge signs and logos, most are unmissable from the highway. But leave it to Maine to bring us the most adorable version of a fast food spot ever. Hidden away in an old home in Freeport is the world's most Maine McDonald's!
When you've got a hankering for a Big Mac, you might be looking for a building like this one.
But, not if you're in Freeport!
Because Freeport is home to the most adorable McDonald's that ever existed.
Built in in the 1800s, this house has been around for more than 150 years!
The mansion was built by William Gore, a prominent merchant in the area.
And it was converted into Freeport's only McDonald's back in 1984.
The house looks Victorian, but in the back you'll find some modern touches - like a drive-thru!
Inside you'll find photos of what the area looked like back when the home was actually a home.
Because buildings must conform to the local aesthetic, the home was kept relatively the same - down to the inside dining room.
You can even order a classic Maine lobster roll, which is reported to be pretty good!

Even at night, this unique place has the look and feel of a classic Maine bed and breakfast.
