Maine is a winter lover’s paradise. And there are no shortage of amazing ski resorts in Maine. Sugarloaf is the large single ski mountain in Maine. Located in Carrabassett Valley, this resort has 1,056 acres of trails and terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities. Sugarloaf also has great amenities, which make it perfect for a winter getaway. It has a slope side village overflowing with amazing restaurants, shops, and even lodging. Sunday River Ski Resort in Newry, Maine is another wonderful resort. It has eight interconnected mountain peaks and high capacity high speed lifts. So you’re sure to get in a lot of runs here. Night skiing is also offered, so it is definitely worth checking out. For a resort close to Portland, be sure to check out Shawnee Peak. Just 45 minutes from the city, it is great for family skiing. There are 41 trails over 249 acres, and is perfect for skiers and boarders of all abilities. Saddleback Mountain in Rangley has recently reopened and it is a much beloved ski resort in Maine. Hermon Mountain Ski Area in Hermon, Maine is a small family owned snow area that offers family-friendly skiing and snow tubing.
