The Almost Perfect Sights And Sounds Of Baxter State Park In Maine Will Be A Memory You Won’t Forget
We might be biased, but we happen to believe that every square mile of Maine is beautiful. That being said, we can admit that some spots are even more visually stunning than others. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more impressive wilderness area than Baxter State Park – the diverse terrain here is simply awe-inspiring.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

The park was established between the years of 1931 and 1962 through a series of land donations by Percival Baxter.

800,00 acres is, well, a lot of acres.

Said peak is known as Baxter Peak, which is also part of the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

The costs are covered by an endowment left by Baxter himself, as well as local donations and revenue from the Scientific Forest Management Area.

The fall foliage is unreal, and you'll see it all over the park.

You can go hiking on your choice of 215 miles worth of trails, go camping when the weather permits, go hunting of fishing (when the season permits), or simply explore the numerous acres of quiet, peaceful wilderness.

Plan your visit soon -- the leaves are already starting to turn.
