The Almost Perfect Sights And Sounds Of Baxter State Park In Maine Will Be A Memory You Won’t Forget

Baxter State Park in Maine offers stunning wilderness, diverse terrain, and numerous outdoor activities.

We might be biased, but we happen to believe that every square mile of Maine is beautiful. That being said, we can admit that some spots are even more visually stunning than others. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more impressive wilderness area than Baxter State Park - the diverse terrain here is simply awe-inspiring.

Baxter State Park encompasses 200,000 acres of rugged wilderness in Northeast Piscataquis in north-central Maine.

The park was established between the years of 1931 and 1962 through a series of land donations by Percival Baxter.

Baxter State Park is one of the state's top destinations, but don't worry -- there's plenty of room for every visitor.

800,00 acres is, well, a lot of acres.

The park is surrounded by mountain clusters, with the highest mountain peak up to 5,267 feet.

Said peak is known as Baxter Peak, which is also part of the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Believe it or not, this gorgeous state park is entirely self-funded.

The costs are covered by an endowment left by Baxter himself, as well as local donations and revenue from the Scientific Forest Management Area.

There's really never a bad time to visit, but as you can imagine, autumn is especially enchanting here.

The fall foliage is unreal, and you'll see it all over the park.

So... what is there to do here? Plenty, if you're an outdoor enthusiast.

You can go hiking on your choice of 215 miles worth of trails, go camping when the weather permits, go hunting of fishing (when the season permits), or simply explore the numerous acres of quiet, peaceful wilderness.

Baxter State Park is an absolute gem, and we're lucky to have it here in Maine.

Plan your visit soon -- the leaves are already starting to turn.
