When it comes to finding remote spots in Maine, it’s not hard to think of a few right off the top of our heads. From a favorite bit of forest to secret lakes and streams, there are lots of places where you can be alone in Vacationland. But, there is one particular place that comes to mind when trying to think of THE most remote spot in Maine. The woods in the north tend to be visited by only the most hearty outdoor lovers but, even if you never plan on visiting, it’s worth learning more about.
The 100-Mile Wilderness is considered the most rugged portion of the Appalachian Trail.
100 Mile Wilderness Adventures and Outfitters can help you with that. They're located at 349 Pleasant Street in
Monson and can be reached on 207-991-7030.
Even if only hiking a section, remember that nature is unpredictable and you must be prepared and trained.
