Note: We actually don't have an official state food, but we do have a state treat and it's the whoopie pie! In any event, it's important to remember that our food options go beyond just lobster. In fact, there's nothing you can't find here. Have a hankering for cheese? Check out this spot! Have a need for all things pickled, then today's article is for you!

Morse's Sauerkraut was started by Virgil Morse in 1918. You'll find it in Waldoboro where it's totally worth the visit on country roads to find.

That very first barrel of sauerkraut was cut using Morse's special methods and that's how things are still done today.

The only difference is that the business has expanded now offering delicious crock pickles, relishes, mustard and horseradish.

They also have a full market offering deli meats that complement the 'kraut.

Their case of meat includes everything from Parma Prosciutto to Bavarian sausage to cheeses like Dutch gouda and aged Cheddar.

Their restaurant serves up delicious dishes like this cheese skillet special.

And cross your fingers that you show up on a day when brunch includes a full English breakfast with

beef stew and a smoked banger meatloaf sandwich.

The homey dishes here are perfect for cold winter days.

Which is when you're likely to be here considering they rarely close!

Wander through their market shelves to find fun European goods you won't find anywhere else.

Including tons of unique candy!

Have a special event? They make platters to go which will make you a hit. Or, of course, you could just get your own platter to eat at home. Not that we've ever done that or anything. Or have we?
