Maine Will Have A Brand New Attraction At Funtown In 2023

Have you heard the good news about the haunted hotel in Funtown that will open for the 2023 season? There was much excitement and build-up getting to this point, and we are beyond excited about this announcement. As we are fed small details leading up to the opening day in May, the excitement only grows. We hinted at this mystery new attraction coming to Funtown, but now we know exactly what it is and we can hardly wait.
Funtown/Splashtown is Maine’s favorite theme park and a place that is filled with great childhood memories for most of us.
Things have slowly been added over the years and the park just keeps getting better and better. Funtown has experienced a few upgrades, and renovations, and even saw the return of an original merry-go-ride, but a new ride has not been introduced to the park since the Wild Mouse back in 2009.
During the 2022 season, a sign was put up above the Fun Factory Arcade.
The sign read "Somethin’ wicked FUN is coming here in 2023". Much speculation started and a leading theory was the return of the long-lost haunted mansion attraction they tore down decades ago.
It had quite an infamous reputation for being a little too scary, which only made it even more alluring. We could only look back at our fond, albeit terrifying memories of the haunted mansion. At least until now…
The adoring fans, us included, began hoping for another haunted ride. Then the announcement was made and it is indeed the creepy attraction we had all hoped for.
The brand new Haunted Hotel is now slated for opening weekend at Funtown this year!
The witch pictured above is an animatronic named Lilith and she has put a curse on the hotel. As you enter the ride, you will be able to interact in several different ways as you attempt to eradicate the curse. There will even be an opportunity to rescue some guests that have been sucked into another dimension.
There will be lots of special effects and some really high-tech production going into the Haunted Hotel.
This ride was also designed specifically for Funtown, so there won’t be another one like it anywhere in the world. During the announcement, we were told it will be a family-friendly ride, so it might not be quite as hair-raising as the previous scary attraction, but will be a good fit for everyone in your family.
We are ecstatic about the Haunted Hotel in Funtown coming this year. What about you?
