There are times when we look around and just feel thankful to be in a place like Maine. Most of the time this happens on a normal day when we’re going about our regular activities. So imagine what it would feel like if we actually went out of our way to do something extra-special here! We love the idea of staying overnight in this farmhouse with an actual railroad caboose It’s surrounded by nature in the Maine midcoast and it looks like a great way to enjoy some time away.
Nestled next to a pond in Maine's midcoast, this combination farmhouse and caboose that sleeps eight people might just be the most unique way to spend a weekend away.
We'd be happy with either a fun 1800s farmhouse or a caboose, but this beautiful property offers both!
The farmhouse cabin sleeps four people and is beautifully decorated with vibes just as you'd expect. There's a queen bed that sleeps two as well as a ladder to a sleeping loft with two more twin beds.
The cabin loft is cozy as can be!
And we love the rustic dining area.
And when the weather is nice you'll want to spend some time on the deck to soak up the surrounding forest views.
The deck connects the farmhouse to the caboose, which is even more adorable!
It's bigger than it looks from the outside and has a kitchen with everything you need. It also has a heater and an AC so you can enjoy your time here in any kind of weather.
The caboose sleeps four in a twin bunk area, which is great for kids.
And it even has a bathroom with a shower.
The area feels remote, though it's not far from anything you'll need. And the little road leading to your stay adds to the off-the-beaten-path feel.
There's plenty of peace and quiet to be had here and it's perfect for a much-needed recharge.
The Payson Hill Farm Cabin & Caboose is available to book for about $140 per night on Airbnb.com. Right now there's availability from May through October 2021, but you'll want to plan ahead to be sure you get the dates you want.
In addition to the unique overnight stays, we're also excited about the ones that offer some serious rustic luxury. For instance, you can soak in a hot tub surrounded by natural beauty at these 5 cabins in Maine.
