Much of the park is situated on a high bluff that overlooks the bayou, giving visitors a lovely sweeping view of this waterway. "Chemin-A-Haut" means "high road" in French, which was the route used by Native Americans many years ago.

When you’re at Chemin-A-Haut State Park, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from it all.
Take a stroll down one of the two trails at the park and find yourself under a canopy of towering pines and lush greenery. The park also features an eight-mile equestrian trail that’s open to riders with their own horses.
