Think you've done it all? Think again, because there's one amazing bayou tour that will show you an entirely new side of the city. You'll paddle down Bayou St. John, taking in all the sights and admiring all of the amazing architecture from the houses and buildings along the way. Let's take a closer look at this hidden gem.
Kayak-iti-Yat is a small, family-run kayaking business in New Orleans.
They love being on the water and want to share their joy with you. You can choose which type of kayak tour you’d like to do, and then you’re off! It’s as simple as that.
They offer two different tours: the Big Easy Bayou Tour and the Pontchartrain Paddle Tour.
They vary in distance and time spent on the water, so it just depends on how much time you have. Once you take one tour, you’ll most likely want to sign up for the other tour the following weekend.
The Big Easy Bayou Tour lasts about two hours.
Ideal for those looking for less of a time commitment and for first-time kayakers. You’ll paddle down Bayou St. John, taking in all the beautiful scenery and lovely architecture of the homes dotted along the bayou.
The Pontchartrain Paddle is about four hours long.
On this epic paddle trail, you’ll paddle the entire length of Bayou St. John and back, about double the distance of the Big Easy Bayou Tour. Geared towards more active, outdoorsy kayakers, this tour offers the opportunity to see wildlife while taking in the sights of the bayou. About midway through the tour, you’ll take a short walk to Lake Pontchartrain before heading back to the bayou to finish the trip.
Whichever tour you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to see the city from an entirely new perspective.
The Big Easy Bayou Tour costs a mere $45 and the Pontchartrain Paddle Tour will run you $65. For more information, check out their website.
