When you come to City Park, a stop at the Botanical Gardens is an absolute must.
What started as a humble little rose garden in 1936 has grown into a 12-acre botanical oasis that’s truly a sight to be seen.
The New Orleans Botanical Garden features 12-acres to explore filled with more than 2,000 varieties of plants from around the world.
It’s a place where you can literally stop and smell the roses.
In addition to the various themed gardens, the Botanical Gardens also includes several sculptures and water features.
Some of the themed gardens include a native plant garden, a rose garden with a reflective pond, an azalea and camellia garden, and a butterfly walk that attracts an assortment of butterflies.
The gardens is open year-round, so no matter when you visit, you’re sure to see something in bloom.
The gardens are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The last entry is at 4 p.m. and you can enter through the Oscar J. Tolmas Visitor Center which is located at 5 Victory Avenue.
