Without question, Louisiana has some of the most beautiful waterways in the entire United States. The lakes here are no exception. Even as the summer heat gets turned way up, there are some truly amazing places to go for a summer getaway. The amazing wildlife that can be discovered here, as well as the gentle waters that are perfect for canoeing or kayaking. Check out these amazing lakes for a great Louisiana adventure:

This reservoir near the town of Homer, LA is home to a popular state park that offers plenty of opportunities to fish and boat. There's also a disc golf course at the park.

This lake in Jefferson Davis parish is near a town of extensive history, Lake Arthur. The beautiful lake is known for its abundant wildlife, which made it a popular early campground for the Attakapas tribe.

A large variety of wildlife make this area their home, which is known for amazing fishing. Fish like croaker, redfish, flounder, and black drum are all abundant here.

This lake and wetland forms the border between Louisiana and Texas and is the 2nd largest lake in the south. A large environmental preservation effort still remains to keep this area pristine and gorgeous for human and wildlife use.

This reservoir in Northwest Louisiana is an lake that is available for fishing and boating. It's a dear community around the shores of this lake, as many people have beautiful camp houses here.

This lake also has a Louisiana state park attached to it, and is one of the most gorgeous in Louisiana. This waterway was formed in the early 19th century because of a log jam on the Red River that resulted in flooding. The lake is available for a range of activities, and there are two swimming pools on the grounds of the state park.

This 4,200 acre reservoir has a variety of depths and offers opportunities for recreational boaters and fishers. The lake offers quality bass fishing and the cabins at nearby South Toledo Bend State Park to camp in.

This brackish lake is found in Cameron Parish, in Southwest Louisiana. Some locals call this lake Big Lake, and is well known among anglers because of its abundant redfish, flounder, and shrimp. This is also where the unique pink dolphin has been found!

This gorgeous lake outside of Lafayette offers an amazing wildlife preserve and is home to hundreds of species of birds and many other kinds of amazing wildlife.

This lake off the Red River basin in Northwest Louisiana offers a variety of fishing and boating opportunities. Because of flooding in the area, the lake is currently closed, but let's all pray they get it back open again soon!

This Lake that separates New Orleans from the Northshore communities of Mandeville and Covington, and offers incredible sunsets, swimming in some areas, and of course awesome boating and fishing.
