This One Beautiful Louisiana Lake Has A Beach That Rivals The Coast
Summer is here, which means you’ll be looking for ways to beat the heat. Louisiana is known for many things, but beaches aren’t one of them, even though we do have some truly spectacular hidden beaches peppered around the state. This beautiful Louisiana lake has a beach that rivals the coast, and you’re going to want to check it out. It’s the perfect attraction when you’re in need of a beach day, but don’t want to drive all the way to the Gulf Coast.
Located in north-central Louisiana, Jimmie Davis State Park is a 294-acre natural paradise just waiting for you to explore.
The park was established in 1996 and has been a favorite attraction for those in the Jackson Parish area ever since.
Fun fact: the park was originally named Caney Creek Lake State Park!
It was renamed in 2003 to honor the former Governor Jimmie Davis, who was a native of a nearby town.
Nestled along the shores of the beautiful Caney Creek Lake, Jimmie Davis State Park is a nature lover’s paradise.
From cycling to wildlife viewing, this state park offers something for everyone.
Jimmie Davis State Park is known for its abundant freshwater fishing opportunities, so make sure to bring your rod and reel.
Fish from the dock or bring your boat and use one of the park’s two boat launches to explore the lake on your own.
One of the park’s main attractions is the stretch of beach.
Pack some sunscreen and a beach umbrella and you’re ready for a day of fun in the sun.
The area by the beach is roped off, so you won’t have to worry about boaters and water skiers in the lake.
For a truly relaxing experience, bring an inflatable tube and float your cares away in the cool, crisp waters of Caney Lake.
This place is so pretty you'll second guess whether you're still in Louisiana.
This lovely lake is just one of the many little slices of paradise in this beautiful state of ours.
After a day of beach fun, you’ll probably want to spend a few days here. We wouldn't blame you for extending your visit!
And that can totally be accommodated! Jimmie Davis State Park offers several cabins and RV sites, so bring the whole family and make a weekend out of it.
There are also several primitive camping areas, so bring your tent for the true camping experience.
And, of course, don’t forget the s’mores ingredients. They’re as essential to camping as bug spray.
Whether you're planning a day trip or a weekend adventure, the beach at Jimmie Davis State Park is an absolute must this summer.
