Kansas isn't widely known as a hot spot for the best Mexican food, but you'd be surprised at just how many restaurants we have that fit the title. Many of our small towns have local family-run restaurants, and our larger cities have plenty of options as well. However, this small town in northeast Kansas might be near a big city, but you'd never expect to find Mexican cuisine this good in a place with under 5,000 residents. Or would you?
Welcome to Basehor!
Basehor is a wonderful small town near Kansas City with tons of character and things to do.
They also have a stellar Mexican restaurant called Rodeo that's serving up amazing dishes nightly.
Everything from stuffed avocados to sopapillas is served here, and the best part is...
The hand-made tortillas!
Tacos are so much better when the flour tortillas are hand made and not from the store.
Their dishes give you plenty to eat, at a great price, considering they're so close to Kansas City.
You'll always leave full, especially if you take advantage of their refreshing margaritas while you're here.
Every dish is made with love, or at the very least, queso. Those are the same thing, right?
Enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, and even steak are served here daily, with quite a few unique dishes also on the menu if you like to branch out from your usual order. But what's for dessert?
Sopapillas, of course!
Delicious fried bread that is served best covered in honey and powdered sugar. Of course, their fried ice cream and flan dishes are great choices as well. Just remember to save room!
Here's a map showing the location of Basehor, but the restaurant's address is 15510 State Ave. Suite 11, Basehor, Kansas.
After you're done feeding your stomach, perhaps you should feed your mind at one of these amazing Kansas museums around the state?
