We all know just how much we love a hot meal after a hard day's work. There's nothing more satisfying than sitting down to something you might miss from your childhood, or a meal you can only seem to find in small town diners. However, this restaurant in Kansas City, Kansas has just the thing we're looking for: a hot beef sandwich.

Welcome to Dagwood's Cafe in Kansas City, Kansas.

It's a classic Kansas restaurant, and one that many of us hold dear to our hearts. After all, it's been around for a while!

They've been serving great eats since they opened in 1938,

Opened as Dagwood's Eat Shop and later known as Ruby's Dagwood's Cafe, It's open seven days a week, but only for breakfast and lunch. That just means you'll have to use the rest of your day visiting to explore the area!

The inside is full of old diner charm, with black tile checkers and brightly colored decor.

They're known for their huge breakfasts at low cost, but I always grab a hot beef sandwich when visiting a diner that's new to me.

Here it is, covered in gravy and full of meat and potatoes.

I don't know what could make a Kansan happier, when it comes to home style meals. This dish has all but disappeared in Kansas towns, but we can't figure out why. Maybe we'll eventually lose all of the foods our parents used to make for us.

As for those breakfasts we mentioned, they are the perfect prequel to their hot beef sandwich dish.

Why not try both breakfast and lunch here? It's no wonder they have so many local regulars, the food here is amazing and very well priced.

Dagwood's Cafe is located at 1117 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, KS. Their hours are from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends. Enjoy!
