Kansas is home to many a countryside view and historic home, and many of us are familiar with their stories. However, there's one in particular that became famous through both books and television over the years, based on Kansas history. Can you guess which one this is?
The beloved book series (and television show) Little House On The Prairie is a core part of many Kansan's upbringing in the state.
Kids everywhere read this book in their younger school years, and now they'll soon get to go back into a recreation of the house this beloved family lived in.
The current building hasn't been completely open to the public for a while now.
It was deemed unsafe as the structure of the little cabin was starting to sag. However, that's all about to change!
Soon, we will have a new house to explore and learn about, which might even feature a barn addition.
The current owners of the cabin are planning to build a new one soon, but they need more funding, and volunteers to help move the heavy logs needed to complete the structure. So far, they need around $20,000 more to pay the craftsmen needed to make it historically accurate.
More than 20,000 people visit the current cabin yearly, so hopefully this new barn will find funding soon.
Will you be one of the first to visit? It's scheduled for construction in October/November 2017, so let's hope it's open by spring. I know I'll be there when it does!
If you've never been here, you might want to visit before (and after) it's replaced!
