There's a lot of places in Kansas that have stood the test of time, still serving food and keeping the memory alive. One wooden root beer stand turned into a beloved restaurant named Homer's Drive In, a spot you won't want to pass up.
Today's pit stop lands at a spot in Leavenworth, Kansas named Homer's Drive In. It's a beloved staple for local Kansans, and a great stop on any road trip that makes it out this way.
This restaurant didn't come out of nowhere, either. It's actually decades old! In 1931, a man named Homer McKelvey sold root beer at a wooden stand.
In 1938, the restaurant he built finally landed at the location you'll find it today, selling classic diner eats and making you feel right at home in this retro themed diner.
Everything from burgers and tenderloin sandwiches to brisket and corn dogs. They've got one of everything, almost!
Follow up your meal with a slice of homemade pie in various available flavors, as long as there's some left. Some say you should order it before your meal, just to make sure your piece is on the table.
Even if all the pie has been eaten that day, you can still enjoy a nice milkshake to sweeten your meal deal.
Homer's is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Homer's Drive In doesn't have a website, but you can check out the community Facebook page.
