There are so many beautiful places in Kansas that are just ripe for exploration. One great thing about the Sunflower State is that we aren't always packed with tourists like some more popular vacation destinations that seem to be constantly bustling. We've got some great hidden gems in Kansas that are waiting to be explored, especially our beautiful natural areas. One gorgeous and very underrated state park in Kansas is Lovewell State Park, up in the north-central part of the state. This wonderful oasis is a great place to get away from it all.
Lovewell State Park is the jewel of Jewell County, not far from Webber. With 1,160 acres, camping, and a beach, you'll find plenty to do here.
The park lies along the man-made lake that shares its name. Lovewell Reservoir was built in 1955 and has a surface area of just under 3,000 square feet.
There are plenty of opportunities for fun within the park, including archery, basketball, volleyball, and disc golf.
Of course, swimming and boating on the reservoir are immensely popular as well!
It's also a magical place to enjoy sitting by the shoreline and enjoy all the beauty of Kansas nature.
In a state as large as ours, with so many places to check out, it's no wonder that there are plenty of areas that end up not quite getting the attention they deserve. Lovewell State Park is definitely one of the most underrated state parks in Kansas that belongs on your bucket list.
