Kansas has a total of 12 byways; nine of those are considered scenic. Two of those nine scenic byways are designated as National Scenic Byways, and three of them are historic byways. They stretch for hundreds of miles total, bringing drivers to see some of the most impressive and beautiful scenery the state has to offer. The Flint Hills Scenic Byway, for example, leads visitors through some incredible tallgrass prairies and affords a look at some of the native grasses that call this land home. It might not sound like much but trust us – it’s a lot more beautiful than it sounds like it should be.
What are the most beautiful places in Kansas?
Who said Kansas isn’t beautiful? We sure didn’t. There’s just something about this state, be it the rolling green hills, endless fields of golden wheat, or skies that go on forever that truly enchant the spirit. There are some places that most certainly need to be visited by every person in Kansas and every person who ever visits; one of those places is the world-famous Grinter’s Sunflower Farm, in Leavenworth County. When people think of Kansas, they often think of sunflower fields, and that’s exactly what you’ll find here. Prairie Dog State Park is also quite lovely, especially if you’re a fan of wildlife! Also, the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge is one of the most picturesque places there is. You’ll have to see it to believe it!
