Sometimes, we’ve got to travel off the beaten path to find some of the hidden gems that define Iowan cuisine – but for a meal at places like the River Rock Cafe, it’s absolutely worth a little bit of travel.
Butch's River Rock Cafe is one such spot, located at 1529 253rd St., Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641.
This tiny family restaurant is truly isolated - miles from the center of town and right on the banks of the Skunk River.
Unless you know what you're looking for, it's easy to miss. You'll have to travel a few rural roads to even get close.
Once you find Butch's River Rock Cafe, though, you are in for a treat! You can dine outside and enjoy the water view...
