Iowa has plenty of lakes that are perfect for splashing around on a hot, summer day, but some of our man-made swimming holes are pure paradise. Check out this water park in Waterloo, and you'll feel just like a kid on summer vacation.
Lost Island opened its doors back in 2001, and it's been a favorite spot for splashing ever since. This is the largest water park in Iowa, so if you're looking for acres of fun, you're in the right place.
Address: 2225 East Shaulis Road, Waterloo, IA, 50701
There's so much to see and do here, that you'll want to get here early and plan to spend the entire day.
Start with a soak in Tsunami Bay. This wave pool has a zero-depth entry, which makes it perfect for even the tiniest water-lovers. Grab a tube and bob in the water, and when the waves start flowing, grab on for a wilder ride.
Another way to enjoy floating is on the Kailahi River. It's a lazy river that slowly carries you downstream — the perfect spot to relax and soak in the sun.
Little ones will want to spend some time at Blue Iguana Lagoon. This area is set up especially for them, with small waterslides and a showering umbrella, spraying palm trees, and a tipping bucket.
Blue Iguana Lagoon is a true swimming hole, with a cascading waterfall with a cave underneath where you can pass through to another pool.
There are plenty of big waterslides for big thrills! With nine to choose from, you'll want to spend a good part of your afternoon trying them all.
Calypso Cascade is a unique waterslide with large rafts for up to five people. Your raft will drop right off of waterfalls and bank around tight turns through the rapids. Hold on tight!
Lost Island Waterpark is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day of the week.
