Iowa’s winters are brutally cold, but you don’t need to hop on a plane to get a taste of spring or summer. Head to the most gorgeous indoor botanical garden in Iowa and enjoy the smell of fresh blooms and cheerful colors of a conservatory right in the heart of the Hawkeye State.
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden got its start as a small city greenhouse that opened its doors in 1939. Now, the updated space is the most gorgeous Botanical Garden in Iowa.
There are over 1,200 different species on display across the gardens, and the ones living indoors are all arranged to create a gorgeous visual display.
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. You’ll find this gorgeous greenhouse at 909 Robert D. Ray Dr., Des Moines, IA 50309. Visit their website to see the calendar of events and to plan your visit.
