Don't let summer pass you by without one last hurrah. There's a farm in Hobart, Indiana that hosts its sunflower fest in September, and you won't want to miss it. Check out why locals love to attend this weekend event.
Johnson's Farm Produce in northwest Indiana has been selling top-notch seasonal produce since 1940 and is known as a trusted name in fruits, vegetables, and all sorts of plants.
The farm began as somewhat of a roadside stand of produce for sale that was available from the family garden and has since grown into the local favorite it is today.
To welcome the beginning of fall each year, this incredible farm throws a sunflower fest, which is just one of many festivals that take place throughout the year here.
After the sunflower celebration, the pumpkin fest (pictured here, in a previous year) will be next. Follow the farm's Facebook page or check its website (links below) for further details.
This year's Sunflower Festival will take place the weekends of September 14-15, 2019 and September 21-22, 2019, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Admission will be $8 per person.
Admission includes access to a variety of activities including a jump pad and jump pillow, an obstacle course, a pipe swing, pedal karts, tram rides, the goat village, and Johnson’s town.
Train rides and produce cannons are the only attractions that guests must pay a bit extra to enjoy.
Additionally, you'll pay for the sunflowers you take from the U-pick field. Each is $1.
No one can leave this place without grabbing a few seasonal goodies. Sweet corn, berries, squash, and a slew of baked goods will be ready for you to take home.
Johnson's Farm Produce is open daily between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and you can get more details on its website or Facebook page.
Address: 8960 East Ridge Road, Hobart, IN, 46342
