Have you ever seen pictures of a park that looked like it popped out of your own imagination? Indiana is home to a number of stunning places, but there is one truly remarkable site that often stuns visitors. In fact, this hidden gem of a park looks like something straight out of a fairy tale...and you won't believe it's right here in Indiana.
The Sunken Gardens in Huntington, Indiana is the highlight of Huntington County. This stunning sunken garden display can be found within Memorial Park, close to downtown Huntington.
This stunning garden wasn't always the charming site it is today. In the early 1900s, the Keefer and Bailey Lime, Brick, Tile, and Cement Company evacuated their quarry, the former site of this beautiful garden.
The abandoned quarry was an eyesore to the town, so the city bought the property and worked on a plan to clean it up. In the early 1920s, The Sunken Gardens was constructed and dedicated to the city.
The Sunken Gardens in Huntington is one of the only gardens of its kind in the country, making it quite a marvel for Indiana residents to behold. This fairy tale-like park offers amazing scenery, such as rock steps, fountains, and stone bridges.
These stunning grounds often serve as the backdrop for professional photography sets, as well as outdoor wedding venues. With all of the charming details, this park makes for an amazing spot to picnic, walk, or gather with friends.
These amazing sunken gardens have to be seen in person to truly capture how beautiful they are.
