What are some nice ski resorts in Indiana?

Okay, so maybe Indiana isn’t exactly known for its reputation as a ski resort kind of place, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some of its own, anyway – two, to be exact. The first is Paoli Peaks Ski Resort, in Orange County near Paoli, Indiana. It’s a skiers’ paradise, and snowboarders, snowbladers, and tubers are also welcome. It’s built on a 900-foot-high hill and features a vertical drop of 300 feet. It has 17 runs and plentiful chairlifts. It also offers a towing service for tubers to get back up to the top! Then, there’s Perfect North Slopes. With a summit elevation of just 800 feet, it’s no Colorado ski resort, but for Indiana, it’s everything we need. That one features 100 skiable acres and 23 lovely trails to enjoy. To learn more about Paoli Peaks, check this article out

What is winter in Indiana like?

In one word? Chilly! Indiana is a state that experiences all four seasons, meaning winter is most definitely – well, wintery. Winter weather typically picks up in December, though occasionally we’ve been known to get a freak early snowstorm as soon as October! Usually, winter begins to recede in March, and severe weather season tends to pick up as the winter leaves off. The average high during winter in Indiana is just above freezing, at 37 degrees, and occasionally there will be remarkable winter storms like blizzards or ice storms. Indiana averages about 22 inches of snow yearly, which is just below the national average of 28 inches of snow per year. Winter in Indiana is a magical time – everyone should experience its beauty at least once. Plus, many of Indiana’s small towns love getting all decked out for the winter holiday season, which is also well worth experiencing.
