What is it about the forest that's so intensely and timelessly intriguing? I don't know, but what I do know is that Indiana's forests are unlike any others in the world. The Hoosier State is an absolutely amazing place, and it's perfect for a quiet escape from the real world. Well, I found something that's beyond perfect, and I think you'll love it just like I do. It's called Postcard Cabins Indianapolis, and boy, is it a treat! I'm not even sure what I like the most about it - there's too much to pick! Located near some of the best hiking trails in Indiana, as well as a couple of parks and lots of shopping, you'll find your escape to Getaway House is just what you need - no matter the circumstance.
So, it's called Postcard Cabins Indianapolis (and/or Postcard Cabins House Brown County) - but technically, it's about an hour away in the beautiful small town of Columbus. Columbus is a delight, with plenty of dining, shopping, and outdoorsy things to do to pass the time and enjoy yourself. The population of Columbus is just over 50,000 people, so it's a bigger small town, if that makes sense. Brown County itself is awe-inspiring - you'll see. These adorable, one-of-a-kind mini-cabins are far from the norm, just like the surrounding town and all the natural wonders.
With 45 gorgeous, modern cabins on 250 private acres, you'll find that this is the perfect respite from the noise of the world. It's peaceful and quiet, and although you do technically have neighbors, everyone here tends to be low-key. After all, there's only one goal here: to relax. It's absolutely perfect for a solo outing or a romantic couples' getaway.
You can even bring the whole family - it all depends on your needs. No matter what, though, Postcard Cabins has got you covered. It's suitable for just about everyone, and by the time it's time to go, you'll find yourself so deeply relaxed that you'll already be looking forward to next time. These tiny cabins are surrounded by old-growth, mature woods, and they're excellent choices for anyone who enjoys bird watching or nature spotting in general - they are surrounded by it all!
Of course, there are plenty of things to do around the campgrounds, too, like the Pauline Crump Nature Preserve, and one of my favorite hiking trails in Indiana, the 1.9-mile, easy Shawnee and Lenape Loop. The loop is dog-friendly and usually takes less than an hour to complete, though if you decide to stop and marvel along the way (same), it might be a little longer.
Take your time... no rush. After all, you're out here to unwind, not get all wound up. Another nearby trail is the one-mile-long Tangeman Woods Loop; other fun stuff to do nearby are things like Columbus Bowling Center, the Putt-Putt Fun Center, the Copperhead Creek Gem Mine, and so much more! It's also just an hour outside of Indianapolis, which is filled top-to-bottom with fun stuff to do, see, and experience, as well as some of the best dining in the state.
