Step Back In Time At The Luxurious Empire House Hotel In Indiana
Nestled in beautiful Rising Sun, Indiana, not too far from Cincinnati and situated gently on the banks of the beautiful Ohio River, is the Empire House Hotel. When it comes to places to stay in Indiana, this is one of our favorites, but not for the reasons we usually love places. This one is very familiar but different. It’s very much a reminder of the old days, before the internet and during the days of analog TV. The decor hasn’t changed in decades, and honestly, we love it. This adorable hotel in Indiana is one of our favorites – come see why!
The Empire House Hotel was originally built in 1816, and ever since, it's been a beacon of all the comforts of nana's house.
From the inside out, it's an old-school reminder of those days long before cell phones and internet - though, of course, you can still use both while you're here.
Every room is just a little different, as opposed to the cookie-cutter types of places you often find in modern hotel chains.
There's something especially lovely about the location of this hotel, too. It's incredibly nice to leave your vintage-feeling room and then go check out the river, especially at sunset (or sunrise).
Hang out on the porch and soak up the incredibly tranquil view of the Ohio River while sipping tea or coffee.
Then, go back inside and curl up with a good book. After all, you could always spend your time here on your phone or laptop... but what's the fun in that?
This is the perfect place to settle in, get cozy, and relax without the hullaballoo of the modern world.
After all, it's not every day you find a little spot that will remind you of days long past that's also modern in all the best ways.
This adorable getaway in Indiana is perfect for solo travelers, couples, friends, and adventurers. If you’re a fan of quaint, cute little places, this is where you’ll want to stay. Plus, it offers up some of the best river views in Indiana!

Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
