As soon as summer starts winding down, it’s time to start planning your fun fall adventures. If you’re a fan of the hundreds of miles of hiking trails in Indiana, you might want to embark upon an awe-inspiring hike that’ll lead you through some truly amazing fall colors, and we’ve got just the thing for you! Check out the challenging – but truly rewarding – Trail #8 at Clifty Falls State Park for one of the hands-down best fall foliage hikes in Indiana, period.
Trail #8 can be fairly difficult in some sections, but believe us when we say it's worth it - especially when fall color is at its peak.
In southeastern Indiana, where Clifty Falls State Park is located, we can expect autumn to be in full bloom (so to speak) by mid to late October - by far the best time of year for a good hike.

Trail #8 is four and a half miles in length and worth every step of the way.
It's such an outrageously stunning hike during the fall that usually, you'll find Clifty Falls State Park hosting guided autumn hikes themselves where guests are welcome to bring cameras and fully appreciate the views.
You'll encounter some steep grades at both the northern and southern ends of the trail, so make sure you're wearing adequate footwear and taking your time. No rush - it's too beautiful to miss out on!
Depending on recent rainfall, the waterfalls you'll encounter along the way may or may not be flowing.
