The Easy 2.1-Mile Saint Louis Canyon Trail Will Lead You Through The Illinois Woods

Just two miles south of Utica or 1.5 hours from Chicago, this lush trail ends at a lovely waterfall. It’s in a canyon formed by glacial melting, and the short-and-sweet hike will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. Nestled in Starved Rock State Park, the trailheads give you the option of a short 10-minute hike directly to the waterfall or the full three-mile scenic trail; regardless of which option you choose, you’re in for one of the best hikes in Illinois!

Starved Rock State Park trails are open from 7:00 am to sunset every day. The Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. except on bank holidays.
