The Land of Lincoln is not known for having a tropical climate or waters like the Caribbean. However, like in the Caribbean, you can find incredible clear water around the state. The clearest lake in Illinois might be Lake Le-Aqua-Na in Lena, just 6 miles south of the Illinois-Wisconsin state line, which is a worthwhile body of water to swim. Let’s explore one of the prettiest lakes in Illinois and bask in all its glory.
Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park encompasses 715 acres, including the 40-acre Lake Le-Aqua-Na. Offering wonderful recreation like multi-use trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds for RVs, tents, youth groups, and equestrians, it's a must-visit state park.
Lake Le-Aqua-Na is a manmade lake known for having some of the clearest water in Illinois. The water is so incredibly pristine due to good watershed practices.
The lake has 1.4 miles of wooded shoreline. You can find a variety of tree species around the lake including oak, hickory, and walnut. Not only is the lake's water absolutely beautiful but the area surrounding it is quite stunning as well.
Among the fun you can have at Lake Le-Aqua-Na is boating, fishing, and swimming. There is an accessible fishing pier located at the park's east end.
The small beach at Lake Le-Aqua-Na is open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily. Be aware, though, that there are no lifeguards here so swimming will be at your own risk.
Wouldn't you love to swim in the clear waters of Lake Le-Aqua-Na? There's no other lake quite like it in the state!
